1st-5th Grade

Welcome to the 1st-5th Grade Page!

1st-5th Grade Services are offered during our
Sunday Church Service at 10:00 am.

What To Expect:
Your 1st-5th grade children will be warmly welcomed in a setting designed to put them at ease and allow them to have tons of fun! We will “edu-tain” your children through high-energy, upbeat, multi-media presentations that teach them about God’s amazing love and plan for them. We keep them on their toes!!! Large group and small group activities are entwined to foster relationship building with your children and their peers and leaders. Strict safety measures are taken to provide your child with the best care possible. Each of our SURF’S UP leaders have been through an orientation process, have been screened to work with your child, and participates in on-going training.

Your Child’s Health:
We operate a well-child program. For the protection of all of the children who come through our doors, we cannot accept a child with a fresh cold (four days or less), fever, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea or any other signs of illness. We request that you not place your child in the program when they are at risk of exposing other children to illness. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our SURF’S UP program a healthy place for all.

When You Arrive At The 1st-5th Grade Area:
A leader will meet you at the check-in table to greet you and your child. Please check in and note any information that will help in caring for your child such as allergies and special needs. If it is your child’s first time at SURF’S UP, you will be asked to fill out a short registration form.

At the time of check-in, a leader will apply an adhesive name tag to your child with his or her name on it. Your child will be assigned a number and a matching tag will be given to you. For security reasons you must present the tag at the end of the church service to receive your child…in this way we are able to safely match children with their proper care-taker.

Snacks:
Snacks are available for children after the church services in the courtyard at the front of the church (same as the adults).

Curriculum:
1st-5th graders are at ages where they really begin building deep beliefs in God and makingserious life-long commitments to Him. We use a modern, multi-media curriculum that will help your child be excited about coming to church and build their beliefs about God. Each week your child starts out by watching and interacting with a DVD program that includes cutting-edge music, a story from the Bible, and a skit that helps illustrate the main point for the week. The kids then go into their small group time where SURF’S UP leaders are able to build relationships with the children by discussing how the Bible applies to everyday life, and offering activities and games that further enforce the weekly point. At the end, time permitting, kids are allowed to have fun with each other and build friendships by participating a “free-play” time with fun games and activities.

Checking On Your Child:
Feel free to check on your child at any time during the church service. However, we ask that you do so discreetly.

Pick-up Procedures:
After lots of high-fives, your child’s leader will release your child to an adult whoreturns with the numbered badge that you were given at check-in. We will look forward to seeing you the following week!

Other Things To Know:
Beyond church services on Sunday mornings, we have other great things to build the faith of your children:

-”The Journey”: A four-year discipleship program designed in such a way that the family decides when/where to go through the material. This is a great way for families to spend time in God’s Word together! It also equips parents to have faith-based conversations with their children. We want PARENTS to be the “spiritual champions” for their children, not the church! So, instead of having a class where you drop your children off to learn about God, we give you all the tools you need to teach your children Biblical truths (on-going support is offered for families through the whole process). Fun events are planned throughout the year to bring “Journey” families together for fun and community building!

-”First Steps”: An hour long class offered a few weeks before one of our Baptism Ceremonies for children interested in getting baptized. The class thoroughly covers salvation and what it means to be baptized. Children are also individually interviewed to make sure they understand the decision they are making.
