In September of 1989, Pastor Jimmy Chaney was praying and felt that God had put it in his heart to start a church in September of 1990. He felt if this impression was really from God that God would confirm it. He felt that God was calling him to start a church in the Beach Cities area that would be relavant to the livs of the people in the area.
It was while in New Mexico during August of 1990, at a student conference, that the Lord opened up the door to start this church. With only one month of preparation, the church met on September 30, 1990 for its first organizational meeting. On November 11, 1990, we had our first worship service with an attendance of 18 people.
1990 through 1999 was the training years for our church. We learned how to better relate to our community and to serve the needs of our area more efficiently. We grew from 18 people to approximately 180 people.
The next decade 2000 through 2010 was a time of continued growth. Our attendance was 300-400 people in average attendance and we were able to not only help to meet the needs of people in our community, but in many countries around the world.
Our vision for our church is to continue to be a church that draws people to faith in Jesus Christ as we continue to show the love of God to a hurting world and as we continue to do acts of compassion to those throughout the world.
